A very warm welcome to you and thank you for choosing to join one of the Aberdeenshire Taekwondo Schools.
First of all I would like to congratulate you for joining a REAL martial art. Unfortunately there is an increasing amount of people in the area who after training for a couple of years in the martial arts, decide to make up their own styles, giving them silly names and teaching ineffective, and sometimes dangerous techniques (for the practitioners). Such, so called instructors, pray on people's naivety and ignorance of the martial arts, and are usually very quick to promote their own style by belittling real martial arts such as Taekwondo, Jiu-jitsu, Judo, Karate, Tai Boxing, but to mention a few, which have taken decades or even centuries to develop. WHAT CAN I EXPECT FORM MY FIRST FEW MONTHS OF TRAINING? During the first three months of training you will be familiarising yourself with the class routine, as well as new stances, kicks, attacking and blocking techniques as you work towards your first promotional test (yellow stripe). HOW MUCH DO I HAVE TO PAY? All members at the Aberdeenshire Taekwondo Schools must be insured through the British Taekwondo Council (BTC). This involves paying a small fee when you first join, which is renewed annually. Once you have paid your BTC insurance, fees are charged by session in order to cover the school's overheads (hall hire, instructor's fee, equipment…). We do not tie you down to payment contracts, where you end up paying for classes which you don't attend. Details of prices are outlined on our information pack you received from your instructor. WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED? You don't need to buy any equipment right away. You will need an official ITF uniform for your first promotional test, which will be in approximately 3 months from when you start. Other optional equipment such as sparring equipment is available for members to buy at any time.
Feel free to drop us an e-mail or give us a phone if you need any further information, and…
